What is an APA and How is it Calculated?

The Pre-Application Transfer (APA) is paid immediately upon charter. Under MYBA terms, the amount is generally calculated as 25% of the total charter fee, but this amount can be as much as 35% on some ultra-luxury yachts. Food, beverage, and port fees are paid to the captain before the cruise begins. This payment is designed to cover expenses such as fuel, provisions, and other expenses. The APA, which is 40% of the charter fee and is delivered to the captain to cover the yacht's engine fuel, oil, and other deficiencies, is the payment made by the captain on your behalf. All invoices and cash expenditure accounts must be completed before the final disembarkation date and before the yacht is abandoned. The captain will provide you with an itemized statement of your expenses and refund you any remaining amount if the amount is less than the APA amount. If the amount exceeds the APA amount, you must make up the balance.
